Capitola Art & Cultural Commission

The Capitola Art & Cultural Commission advises the City of Capitola on public arts funding, acquires works of art, and works to enhance the cultural life of this beloved coastal community. Their goal is simple: make art and culture accessible to everyone who lives in or visits Capitola.

When the Commission wanted a way to share Capitola's public art and historical landmarks with residents and visitors, they came to us with an exciting challenge — design the UI for a geolocated iPhone app that would guide users through the city's cultural treasures. Working alongside freelance mobile developer Matt Galloway, we brought the vision to life with a self-guided tour app complete with photographs, location data, and points of interest throughout Capitola.

There's something genuinely thrilling about designing for a new medium and watching it come to life in the App Store. It remains one of our most unique and memorable projects.
